It has been more than one generation ...
Sony made several similar decisions with the PSP and PS3 that significantly hurt their success, and (based on rumours which may not be true) Sony may be making these same mistakes over again with the PSP2. This doesn't mean that Sony will be unsuccessful in the future, but it certainly doesn't show that Sony understands the mistakes that they made and knows what to do to become highly successful again.
