I'd give the edge to Avatar. I was obsessed with Titanic when it first came out, and it was my absolute favorite movie for a while (I'm a sucker for tearjerkers), but looking back at it, the movie had HUGE flaws (I can't beleive it won the Best Picture Oscar over LA Confidential). Avatar was at least an innovative movie, and it did more than just make a lot of money.
