| shio said: Of those 4 "original" games you mentioned, only 2 of them actually are original: The Orange Box and Super Mario Galaxy. Mass Effect is not original, and is definitely not a high standard of WRPGs, especially when The Witcher, which came out in the same year, made everything better and showed what it means have ambiguity. As for Bioshock, ever heard of System Shock II? If you want originality, then you have to look at PC indie games. Minecraft is so fresh and original. |
What's original about The Orange Box? It was a video game compilation with a 3 year old game (at the time), a 1 year old (at the time) sequel to that game, a new sequel to that game, a sequel of a much older game only one new and original game (Portal). There was nothing original about 80% of The Orange Box.
As for BioShock, it was much more original than System Shock 2:
#1 System Shock 2 was a sequel, BioShock was a new IP.
#2 BioShock had an unique setting, and atmosphere.
#3 System Shock 2 had a clichee setting, it being a sci fi horror that took place on a ship.
