I didn't know XBL was an American thing only. The 360 is more popular in America because Sony has destroyed their brand here, and it's not just gaming.


America was always Sony's weakest region. I think I read that the N64 outsold PS1 in its first few months here.

I think very people know this. I've only known it since those days because I have an unc that worked within the company in the mid 90s. They were usually one step behind a competitor or two here (marketshare).

Nowadays, I wouldn't say the Sony nor PlayStation brands are tarnished, but they're certainly damaged. Like any brand though, they can bounce back with the right resources and business decisions.

Err... "Tarnished brand" and "damaged brand" mean pretty much the same thing :-/
