My main problem against duping isn't not that it undermines the effort that the people, who actually had the skill to get it, went through. It's actually that this should be treated as something illegal by PD.

This situation isn't all that different from gold duping or item duping in mmorpg's like Diablo II or WoW, where this is shunned and even banned by Blizzard.

I really do hope that PD comes down hard on dupers in GT5. There will be tons of rage coming from the GTP forums and many other GT5 related forums worldwide, but this is a lesson that must be taught.

Without a doubt, it's likely PD will fix the issue but i can guarantee that dupers won't be punished in any way. Duping in GT5 really isn't comparable to doing it in an mmo. When you do it in an mmo, you screw over tons more people and even have a possibility of really affecting playing habits. Trading items/cars isn't what GT5 is about.

Anyways, I never offered to pass out X1's like candy. So far I've only gave out two to some friends I know. Since so many people seem to be bothered by the idea of duping cars, I'll stick to just giving out chrome paints and probably just take down the whole tutorial on how to do it.

Btw no offense but, low-post count peeps need not apply. Threads like this often attract one-time posters just tryin to freeload.

The issue is devaluation of cars that weren't meant to be "used" by anyone right from the start.

I have no issue with people passing over the P330, Mark IV, XJ13, 787b and so on, these are your typical Race Cars in any other GT's, but when it comes to the X1, F2007 and F2010, it's pretty clear, given their physics and their difficulty to handle, that they're not cars for everyone.

The situation is getting pretty out of hand when you're seeing tons of lobbies popping up with X1 races and almost no one is able to drive them. I mean, I went into one of those lobbies, Le Mans with change time/weather, 5 laps and 15 other X1's. I won the race with more than 1:25 minutes advantage.

Afterwards everyone asked me if I did the Vettel Challenge, I said I won it on gold (hence me using the prototype) and posted my youtube link, and basically everyone wanted to boot me out of the lobby.

It's a pretty similar situation to what happened in Diablo II LOD, before version 1.12b, where everyone and their mothers were having tons of Buriza's, Enigma's, Shackos and everything else and we're roaming around on PVP using them like crap and getting owned by DII vets. That's why bots became prevalent on DII before the ladder reset in 1.12b.

Heck, there are people on ebay already selling X1's for other people's accounts http://cgi.ebay.com/Gran-Turismo-5-RED-BULL-X1-RACE-CAR-VETTEL-X2010-DLC-/290515985793?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a41a2581#ht_500wt_1156. This is all too similar to what happens in mmo's, on sites like http://d2items.com/ and so on. When it becomes an issue of cash or connections rather than skill, it devalues the meaning of the actual item, in this case, the cars in GT5.
