| HappySqurriel said: This seems like a very unusual opinion because most of the women I know who are actually avid readers and interested in reading literature have absolutely hated the Twilight series. Their core complaint seems to be that it is a harlequin romance novel that targets the immature romantic fantasies of teenage girls (and teenage girls at heart) that is wrapped in a facade of the vampire genre; while the author complete ignores all vampire lore, and hundreds of years of literary tradition about vampires. |
Yep, every woman I know who reads a lot absolutely hates Twilight, including my girlfriend, who reads all sorts of crap sci-fi and fantasy stuff. From what I've seen (read excerpts) and heard from people whose opinions on stuff doesn't suck, the books are all-around BAD. They're poorly written, the characters are ridiculous, and the storylines don't make much sense within the context of the world and characters.
