It was cute back when it was in 32-bit. Now it's unneccesary to go over-the-top. Still, theres something to be said for ratings for children-- the violence in MW2 bugs me as far as human-vs-human conflict. Things like Halo showing alien blood doesn't bother me. Gears of War 3 is getting a bit too far for me. IMO for damage control.

It wasn't any different back then, if you played PC games. You're familiar with Doom. Do you know of the Horrorsoft games like Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (she was pretty hot) or Waxworks? Arguably more graphic than any game released this generation.

Or even games like Phantasmagoria or Eleventh Hour.

Other than that, I completely agree with you, and the posters before me on this page.

Doom was the very first game I ever played(I still call it the best game ever made). I can't remember my age, but I was still very young-- IDDQD and shooting tons of things in the face. The difference was that I had no idea that I was shooting zombies and demons-- they didn't look anything like humanoids at all to me. I especially liked the rocket launcher because it would make the enemies turn into what I thought looked like red laffy taffy. The graphics were lol-able back in the day.

I probably wouldn't think the same thing if I saw a locust getting sawed in half on Gears of War back then . . .

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
