I can confirm this right now. THIS IS NOT A RUMOR! I just called the GameStop near my house and he said that they are taking pre-orders for the Nintendo 3DS for $60. I don't know why he didn't say $50, though.

EDIT: I went there and put $50 down for a 3DS
