Point is, FFX is one of the (if that makes you all that happier) best JRPG of all time and him saying that the Final Fantasy franchise hasn't been good since FFVII is false.

You backed off of a factually incorrect statement into another factually incorrect statement.

It is impossible for qualitative judgments for a subjective medium to be true or false, therefore his statement is by no means indefensible. You're free to disagree with him and even argue about it, but trying to claim that you're supported by facts is a verifiable falsehood.

Okay but let's just say that I provided more proofs than he did. I'm actually trying to make it into something that isn't my opinion by providing facts. I don't quite know what else I should do...
