| Mummelmann said: I guess we're not too different after all. The OP is miles ahead of us both in fervor though. I must say that I'm opposed to the whole idea of "parents are slacking, the world must take measures", it should be the other way around, parents need to prepare their kids for the world and not have them grow up in a cushioned room with rainbows and singalong. In essence, I don't think our standpoints are that different and those parts that are may be largely attributed to the fact that we come from two different cultures and are of different age. I for one enjoy a variety of games but have never been drawn to the most violent ones, some seem to want to shock more than provide actual basis for gameplay (Manhunt is a perfect example) and a lot of these games have a weak substance (or none at all). My favourite games are racers, platformers, RPG's, strategy (both realtime and turn-based) and some shooters (though the new breed of shooters with more focus on heavy action really doesn't appeal to me). I apologize if I came out all angry and condescending, my issue is with the OP (and his obvious agenda when viewing his post history) and what appears to be a very skewed view on the world of entertainment first and foremost. It gets personal for me when people use religion to ban or outlaw products, artists, events or social phenomenon, its social gagging and its unnatural for me to rebuke standardized parts of society and impose censorship on your childrens life. Anyway, I have nothing personal against you as a poster allthough we don't see eye to eye on a few things, just thought you should know that. PS: Good response, too few take their time to answer properly for themselves and get all wound up and off-point. |
Thanks. It's nice to see someone who doesn't start shouting whenever someone responds to their arguments, :D.
Anyway, we'll have to agree to disagree on some points, but I suppose our standpoints aren't that different - I haven't actually seen many of his earlier posts so I probably wouldn't be able to put the original post into context like you.
