The real wonder of gaming is when you're roughly 6 or 7 and you play a game without thinking about what it is. If you were that age or so when you first played Mario 64 and marveled at the wonders that game held, that is the epitome of gaming. It's just playing and having fun. I admit, a large portion of games have been bogged down by technical issues and all sorts of things, but when i first played SMG, that joy is still there. It is the thrill of the game and the nonsensical, and it is truly a feeling to be cherished.
