Not really.  The actual question it raises for me is why Sony 1st party FPS can't match the big 3rd party FPS?

Year by year the actual sales units of big third party titles have crept closer and closer on the two consoles - with 360 having early lead due to its head start - and more recently some big titles have sold more on PS3, even.

Yet, for some reason Playstation exclusive FPS can't match Halo in sales.  I find it strange as the 3rd party sales show their is an install base big enough to support huge FPS sales, and in general Playstation owners seem pretty loyal, yet titles like Killzone 2 sell a lot less despite being polished, feature rich and exlusive.

I'm always curious why this is.

Consider the scenario of Forza vs GT. Forza is a robust franchise, like Killzone, but it doesn't hold the household potency of Gran Turismo, as Killzone (and to a lesser extent, Resistance) doesn't hold that to Halo or Call of Duty.

Some franchises have just made a name for themselves, and Call of Duty is one of them. Sure there will be competition (again - Halo vs Killzone, Forza vs GT), but not all the competition can/will achieve such a status.

I agree, but also it's up to Sony to advertise and market there franchises to help build the name for them. MS does a great job at this for Halo, Gears, Kinect etc.  Sony has some funny KB ads but they need something else, an edge somehow with there marketing to build there 1st party games.
