no idea about the thermal paste

It could be that the paste weren't even applied, lol.

Buy some paste and then take aparts the fan/heatsinks to check.

gpu shouldn't get noisy from playing videos.

the gpu is dead silent because there is no fan just a heat sink and the metal bars get pretty hot is just the syupid cpu fan

Oh, you got one of those fan-less gpu for gaming? Bad idea, IMO.

I just got one of these it didnt come with a fan this is a quality card i thouhgt sapphire Radeon HD5670 HDMI 1GB GDDR5

I didn't say fanless equate to crap. It is usually the opposite. But for gaming purposes, no amount of heatsink can cool your gpu as fast/good as an addition of a fan.

Playing video work your cpu, so, it is likely a bad job of installation.

Take a few pics of where the parts and all are before you unplug stuff, assuming you're not familiar with building your own computer.

My cpu used to be running at 60C idle until i replaced with a new heatsink/fan.

It's now running at 36C-40C.

If you want your computer to be quiet as possible, shop around for ones that has larger fan.

Or go liquid cooling :)

ok so what cpu fan/heatsink do you recommendand how much thermal paste do I apply to the top of the proccesoor before applying the heatsink/fan
