Thanks. i'm currently on 3.42 and GT5 requires 3.50. Hopefully, when I buy GT5 it'll have a firmware update included
@everyone wondering what R1 and R3 is
R1 - Region 1 (as Snakeonobi pointed out) or NTSC - U, or US version
R3 - Region 3 or NTSC -J, or Japan/HK (hong kong) version
R2 - Region 2 or PAL, or Euro Version
So to elaborate, I have a HK version PS3 and was asking if a US version game with firmware update will be safe to use to update my PS3's firmware. Which snakenobi kindly pointed out already.
