| FireBringer said: To many people buy into the motion control hype-train. Not I though, it's a waste of money. Kinect is the worst one. If you don't like dancing games, this thing, this monstrocity is a huge waste of money and time. Move is the best, because it's a Wii-Mote, but better, much better. But the Wii is much better in terms of use. They just have to many games, and quite a few are good. In my opinion, the Kinect is the least immersive toy by the 3 companies. A controller makes you feel attached to something. Flailing your arms about isn't very immersive. You just feel like an idiot. You might think it's fun or funny, but not immersive. Sorry. Especially with the bad lag and non 1:1 tracking. I don't know why Kinect is popular, it has no games or support. Stunning! |
They all have their strengths and weaknesses.
Wii balance board is great for snow boarding. Shaun white snowboarding was better on the balance board then with regular controls. Hopefully ssx deadly descent will use it too.
Wii motion plus is good for movements that don't require too much accuracy but you get to stand, sit, dance anywhere you like without worrying about coffee tables, camera placement, lighting etc.
Move is great for anything you do with your hands, table tennis, sword fighting, placing blocks (tumble) Not so great for sports where you don't hold anything (volleyball)
Kinect is great for dancing games and kicking soccer balls (hard to do with wii and move unless you strap the controller to your leg)
Kinect seems the most limited atm for possible games. The biggest problem is moving around. Using it as a pointing device doesn't work all that great either since you need big movements not just turning your wrist as with the wiimote.
Ironically heavy rain and kung fu live would be most immersive with kinect. Ofcourse you would still need a navigation controller for heavy rain, and tbh I haven't tried heavy rain yet with the move. The added motion controls do not suddenly make it a different game I have to play again.
Anyway I'm not paying 200 bucks for kinect to kick a few soccer balls around. (And wouldn't pay 50 bucks for kung fu live either) Waiting for some interesting software to come out.
