In Beck's case, I reckon a lot of it is schtick. The tone of his TV show is all super apocalyptic, but he breaks characters when he's on other shows. If it's not a put-on, he seems mildly schizophrenic. I dunno about Olbermann. He seems like he really could have that much of a stick up his ass, and he works at a place that has absolutely no intellectual or ideological diversity. Peer pressure could have pushed him over the edge. |
I could see that. Maddow went the same way. She was always very leftwing, but she used to actually listen and debate with people back when she was an analyst now... it's just another cringe worthy show.
There isn't a show in primetime worth watching on a News network.
Unless that Mike Huckabee show is in primetime... (I think it is on saturday or sunday.)
Not that Huckabee is any better... but that show is just... interesting to watch from a "What is this?" perspective. It's like some weird 1950's talk show.
I watched 1 episode like late at night one day... and it was entertaining in anycase... just trying to decipher where the show idea and vibe came from and what it's like.
