I'd have more respect for GoW in general if it was a greek tragedy done right.
To paraphase Extra Credits a bit, Kratos' tale should have been like this.
Kratos is a well-respected man in Spartan culture.
Kratos wishs to ascend more in power.
Kratos is tricked by the Gods into killing his family and those who truly matter to him.
Kratos, ashamed of what he's done, kills himself tragedically.
Instead we have this one-dimensional rage for the sake of rage Kratos...
