I am sitting here thinking about what models/ bundles of PS3 Sony should have going forward in 2011, so I will just write them below for your enjoyment!
1) Sony drops the $399 320 gig Move (sports champions) to $299 opposed to the current $399, and ceases production on all other current models, (thus selling other skus for less at retail to clear the chanel).
Simultaneously;
2) Sony introduces a new Move sku that includes a larger hard drive but instead of sports champions they bundle in Killzone 3. They also would pack in the navigation sub controller, so the full Killzone- Move experience could be had by all. The kicker of this bundle is that it also marks the return of backwards compatability to this sku only. So to sum it up, it would be a ..... 500 gig Move (Killzone 3) Full BC at $399.
Both of these options should be launched at, or closely after the Killzone 3 launch imo. These 2 options are perfect as Sony would finally have a bundle worthy of keeping the $400 price tag around a while longer. Sales of Move would skyrocket if it was included in every PS3 available, and a clear separation could still exist between the core and casual type users who choose to buy the PS3 with Move being the force that binds them together.
The real advantage of this plan is that it allows the Move sku to be the intro price model, which is what it should be. IMO the more casual oriented sku should be the cheaper model offered and it should include the Move (unlike Sony's current set-up)
And if you think Sony isnt already thinking about some sort of ultimate BC PS3 (like the one I suggested above) then.... I think you are wrong. Just my opinion :)
The exact timing of these skus could be adjusted to around the holidays but if Sony were to intoduce them in early 2011 that would be a major boost, then they could shuffle the sku's/ prices around at Christmas 2011 for another insane boost in sales.
