Why does everyone assume Nintendo is going to have an underpowered consoles that is only as strong as the 360? 360 technology is 5-years old now and Nintendo probably won't release a new console for 2 more years. There has been plenty of time for technology costs to be reduced so that Nintendo can afford an affordable console that is considerably stronger than the 360.
Nintendo has to put a little bit of muscle in their next console. M$ and Sony are already playing in Nintendo's Blue Ocean and an underpowered Nintendo successor would not be significantly differentiated form 360 and PS3, unless Nintendo comes up with another brilliant idea. But even Nintendo comes up with another brilliant idea, Sony and M$ are also hard at work to create their own new brilliant ideas-- no one is as complacent as they once were.
