if you don't have a 360 then  Lost Odyssey alone is worth getting the console for , its the best JRPG in a long time, how bad is it to get a 360 to enjoy it?

Originally, this is what I wanted to tell the OP.  This game, Blue Dragon, and Magna Carta 2 were all great in my opinion (I hope we aren't overhyping LO.  It really blew my expectations away, though.).  But for the PS3, Valkyria Chronicles is the closest I've come to playing something like a Final Fantasy (including FF13!)--and it's hardly a traditional JRPG.

Look up reviews for Folklore, White Knight Chronicles, and anything from the "Tales" series.  If something catches your eye, buy it.  I buy games that aren't five-star status all the time.  I often get surprised.  That's how games like Crimson Gem (PSP) and Magna Carta 2 (stopped me from playing Mass Effect 2 when it came out) got into my collection.  The JRPG's are there.  Just go with some of the lesser known titles.  Once you get into the story and the character, your JRPG hunger will be satisfied, Gilgamesh.
