Microsoft will never outsell any Japanese made console because the Japanese are incredibly nationalistic.  They have been  given many concessions  from Microsoft including a division of content development just for japan(no matter how much it does not make sense due to their smallish consumer base).  Microsoft has offered to have Japanese games developed and spent many millions trying to bring the consumers on board but regardless of logic, Japanese will not buy non Japanese consoles.  

Microsoft could make a console that printed Yen and they'd still find themselves in third place.  It looks like they've all but given up trying to make Japanese consumers happy as it's obvious that Japan has and always will be a money pit.

There is and never will be a point in people like you flipping the flat-Japanese-only card...it certainly isn't due to logic or the worth of the console...Japanese fans are tools.

And yet, Apple's successful in Japan.

Also, your last sentence is a very loose statement. I mean, I generally favor Japanese games over Western games, because it's more catering to my tastes.
