I know this isn't a real comparison thread, but I think Gears needs to change a little bit in the gameplay department if it wants to out stage it's predecessor. The hunch run needs to be smoothed out, they've got to fix the sticky wall problem with the cover, they've got to get rid of the whole bullet sponge thing with the enemies and I really think that the chainsaw thing and the melee really need to be changed, they really feel old now. Uncharted 2 fixed most of these problems (cover mechanics, melee, stealth, bullet sponges) and I just hope Epic follow the same path.

They have to pace the game better and change it enough, so that it actually feels like a full blown advanced sequel. I loved Gears 1, but I jumped into Gears 2 straight after and it felt like exactly the same game minus the frame rate issues. I did the same thing with Uncharted, I replayed the first before playing the sequel, but this time I was blown away by the crucial improvements they made and I ended up liking it much more than the first. Gears 2 just felt like more Gears, which is cool, but I started to get bored after a while and had to leave it for about a month (Locust Fish boss) and then went back and finished it off.

Looking forward to both games.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
