Yeah it would be good to have a release from them every 2 months. I must say Square's console games have disappointed me but on the handhelds I see glimpses of the old square-soft. I think what they are planning is The 3rd birthday and Dissidia in Q1 and maybe Agito in Q4.

Handheld wise, S-E has been one of the top companies for me,. DQIX, DQV perfect remake, FFIV amazing remake, Dissidia, Crisis Core, TWEWY, KH:BBS, KH:358/2 days, KH:RE Coded and so on, are in line of the good old S-E of the past. Console wise...not so much.

Agito in 2011 would also be pretty good, but I have my reservations about it, since they haven't shown much yet. Same goes for Versus as well.

I think the reason S-E has done well on handhelds is because they are used to those engines, so they focus more on gameplay variety and story. On consoles they spent too much time focussing on making a engine (crystal tools), graphics and so on (a developer interview of FF13 revealed in effect only around 1.5 years were spent in intensive development on the actual game, the rest was making the engine). Maybe towards the end of the generation we will get better console games. I am just anticipating Agito because they have made no bad game on handhelds so far.

Yup, and from the few tidbits that we were shown from Agito, it seems another pretty solid hit from them. Even though their main focus on handhelds is on gameplay, they also seem to be able to make some pretty darn good engines and evolve them. 3rd birthdays looks much better than KH:BBS which already looked better than Dissidia.

I hope that they continue to improve on both aspects and that, as you put it well, at the end of this generation, at least some part of that knowledge is put to good use on their console games as well.
