The man needs to be killed. Citizens doesn't have rights to know what are the objectives of their State.

Wikileaks will not change anything....It's only one more proof that 80% of what they tell you is lie.

Killing him would just be... dumb.

It's like, the worst political play anyone could do.

Even if it stopped the flow of information... (which it wouldn't) people would assume the WORST like way worse then the government is likely engaged in.

Furthermore it'd make the guy a martyr for his cause and if anything probably increase outside hacking attempts to get info.

I agree that killing him would be a disaster.  Look, I don't know whether the rape charges are legit or not, but it would seem to give governments a good enough reason to lock him away for a long time.  Julian Assange is an anarchist, that much is true.  A man without law and good sense imo.  I agree with what you've stated about him becoming a martyr.  The outcry against such an act would be huge I'm afraid.

If it wasn't true, what would be the point of locking him away.  It's not like he's even the most important Wikileaks person, he's just the frontman?

Heck, even if the charges are REAL and somehow they do get a conviction,  which is unlikely since rape conviction rates are like less then 10%, with 2% false reporting, meaning like... over 90% actual rapists get off.

How does that help?  A lot of conspriacy theorists, and probably regular people who aren't fond of America will just assume he was innocent anyway and he'll end up a lesser type of marytr anwyay.

At best, said charges would be to get him to Sweden so he could be deported to the US... to face charges, pretty much EVERBODY agrees he would beat anyway.  Once again, just vindicating him and making him look good.

Like there is no "win" situation for any government as far as the rape charges go.  If it is a government plan... it's one of the most ill conceived ones ever.

These rape charges are nothing but bad for the USA and Sweden.... and hell, if you study what happens to rape victims who take things to trial... it's nothing but bad for the accusers too, as i'm sure they're getting all kinds of death threats and hatemail at the moment.   Amusingly the only one with anything to gain from these charges is the accused himself and possibly justice if he did comit the crime and is convicted.
