Killing him would just be... dumb.
It's like, the worst political play anyone could do.
Even if it stopped the flow of information... (which it wouldn't) people would assume the WORST like way worse then the government is likely engaged in.
Furthermore it'd make the guy a martyr for his cause and if anything probably increase outside hacking attempts to get info.
