Its a bit disappointing reading some of opinions in this thread, many of them are ignorant, arrogant, biased and uninformed.
First of all, I'm a South African, and I'm quite proud of the world cup we hosted here earlier in the year. I think it was a successful world cup, maybe not financially but it definitely helped in bringing our country together and in many other ways. I remember reading in the newspapers about articles in overseas papers, from England and Germany to be specific, about how unprepared we were and how much of a failure it was going to be. And don't forget how dangerous it would be to come here. Well we sure proved them wrong. There was no big mess ups, aside from the guy who ran on the field and touched the cup lol, that was funny tho :D.
Anyways, back on topic, i think all the English and american fans have a right to be upset about the decisions been made. In fact i don't think many countries can compete with them when it comes to hosting a world event, they prepared, they have the fans, they have the infrastructure they have everything thats needed to host a truly successful WC. And Russia and even more so Qatar simply can't compete with that. But i think Fifa have an agenda, that agenda being spreading the world cup to all parts of the world. That is all fine with me. However my main point is, if Fifa plan on spreading the world cup around, why do they even bother letting the other countries compete? To me it was clear that Fifa wanted a world cup in a Middle East country....but then why didn't they make it a region specific WC? And some people here have said that some countries didn't get the vote because they previously held the WC not too long ago. But again why let them bid at all?
I guess i think Fifa is in the wrong here, im not sure about corruption and all that. :P I hope the world cups are a success though :D and brazil should be really fun ;)
