"Presumably this would have to mean that people buy Wii Sports and get a free Wii, and people buy Kinect Adventures and get a free Kinect."

C & P sucks with quoting, so I'll just repaste it. So then the question is, do people buy the Balance Board and get a free Wii Fit? In this regard I wonder whether it would be the gadget that sold well, or the game . . . eh, I'd base it off how the device is marketed myself.

It is debatable, though I really don't think so. A device comes with a game. The device can also play other games. They both fit into that category. So if Kinect is being compared to iPad, Wii Fit should be too as it's in the same category.

Hm, not quite sure. Alternatively a game could come with a device to play the game; thus it's a peripheral created for a single purpose. Whether it remains a peripheral made for a single reason changes or not may not change it's original purpose, that of being a part of a game, albeit something you can physically manipulate outside of the game and use with other games. The balance board came with Wii Fit so play the game, I'm not sure you can say that a Wii came with Wii Sports so you can almost exclusively play Wii Sports.

If a device that comes with a game can also be used for other games could be in the same grouping, it should put in the same group as video game consoles.

Well, you can play games other than KA on Kinect. You can play games other than WF on Balance Board. Since you can also play games other than WS and WSR on the Wii, I guess they're all video game consoles?

Honestly, while it's kinda obvious that the Balance Board was made for Wii Fit, it could be argued that Kinect was made for Kinect Adventures and this, whilst completely ridiculous, can't really be argued against.
