Well that or party troublemakers they want to marginalize. See Teddy Roosevelt... who was so important to the government he was out climbing a mountain when someone told him he was President. Honestly though, while dumb... Sarah Palin isn't as dumb as people make her out to be. She just fell afoul of the media. I wouldn't say she wasn't any dumber then a third or so of the people in congress. |
Honestly, I'm not convinced that she lacks intelligence at all ... Since the last presidential election, Sarah Palin has been one of the most successful political figures in the country; and a large portion of this success can be attributed to her making very good decisions. This is not something you would expect from a dumb individual.
I think what the last presidential election demonstrated was how naive she was/is about the treatment she would get from the media, how poorly prepared/educated she was, and (possibly) how controlled she was. In modern times no one wakes up one day and decides to run for president and becomes particularly successful because without the media training, and the years of studying about a variety of topics, you will (likely) be eaten alive by your opponents, both political opponents and those in the media. I really don't think Sarah Palin thought about being president (seriously) before she was John McCain's running mate, and (as a result) she wasn't prepared for what followed. To make matters worse, I think John McCain knew this was a liability and was trying to treat Sarah Palin like a puppet (making her say what he wanted her to say); and whenever something unexpected came up she was like a deer in the headlights.
