Except some of those will likely never be seen again. A lot of the niche games are on the handhelds because what they make off them does not cover the cost of making it on the Home consoles.

 If handhelds did die alot of the would move to PSN, XBLA and WiiWare type things.

 I get what Pachter is saying but at this point it's very difficult to quite grasp where we're heading with this handheld market. The 3DS should be fine seeing as it has enough power, unique features and awesome looking games to stand it apart from the rest. I've no idea what PSP2 is going to do though.

 I think the question is how many people who own a DS own it just to play games like Big Brain Academy, Tetris, Nintendogs etc, but games like that can be done on the iPhone and cost a fraction of the price, and I guess those people are going to be alot harder to convince to buy a 3DS once their phone suffices their gaming needs.
