I like the Bill Simmons response.
"Any time you can hold a World Cup in a hot Middle East country that's smaller than Connecticut has no soccer tradition, you have to do it."
There is NO fucking reason for it to be in Qatar. It doesn't even fit the "Lets help poor countries" angle.
Both bids show pretty obvious payoffs and corruption.... but at least Russia is halfway decent.
