God of War III, only because it was God of War II with better graphics and boss fights.  I was expecting more variety in enemies and fighting larger amounts of enemies.  It's like the creators didn't want to take a single risk and change something up.  It's a great game but if a sequel doesn't change the formula at all, it should not be rated highly imo.  Don't get me wrong, I loved the game, but it was God of War II with a new paint job.  I wished they would have let you keep the titan powers and combine them with the god powers and then fight double or triple the enemies.  It would have been epic fighting 6 cyclops at once.  My last gripe is the bullshit, the power was in you all along, cliche.  Why not let me be completely powered up at the beginning of the game?  Oh, that's right, that would involve changing up the formula from God of War II.

1. If it aint broke, don't fix it ! God of War 1 was great... 2 was a significant improvement... 3 was simply the most refined in terms of gameplay and somewhat of a step up from 2 in terms of gameplay.

2. "It would have been epic fighting 6 cyclops at once."

Fail. You did fight 5-6 cyclopses at a time before the Labyrinth.

3. Story was never the strongest part of God of War...and its a legit reason why I'd think someone would think the game was over-rated imo.

4. The "formula" may not have changed.... but there were some new things that were pretty cool like the rideable creatures, sub-weapons that you'd actually use, and stuff like the hermes boots with the alt dodge option....

Compared to most other hack n' slashes, I felt the God of War story was pretty enjoyable. But that's just me.
