I've just completed a 3,5 hour marathon on GT5, trying to gold the entire Grand Tour Special Event.

It was an amazing selection of races, but the first one on Eiger Nordward Short with the Alfa Romeo C8 drove me nuts. It was nigh impossible to get the gold, even with a DFGT. Heck, I've checked the forums over at gtplanet and a lot of people are having trouble on that one as well, both with DFGT's, G27's, you name it.

The problem is that the time limit is very strict, 1:17.000 for gold, which means that you've got to have a perfect driving line and create some imaginary milestones, like getting at the end of the bridge after the hairpins with 35s, entering the tunnel at the 49s mark, and so on. The hardest part is getting those hairpins right. Since they're downward, any sudden acceleration or slight movement can send you drifting, screwing any chance that you may have in getting it.

The rest of the events are actually much, much easier to Gold.
Event 2 is an all ferrari race on Monza, which is pretty easy, as you can get into first place after the chicane, and you'll only have to control the 2nd Place Enzo behind you (it has a 100 bhp advantage over you).

Event 3 is a point to point race in Toscana enviroment at night, in a Murcielago. This is one hell of a race, since you'll start way behind the 1st Place car, which is an F430 Scuderia as well, so you'll have to be devilishly fast, at night, in a car that at the slightest movement can (and will) spin-out.

Event 4 is an one lap around Toscana in a Ford Rally Car, which is rather easy (Gold is at 1:54.000, I managed to do 1:53.600s in my fourth try).

Event 5 is an one lap race in a Miura, around Rome. Also a pretty easy one, since you can get in third in the first straight and then you just have to be careful with the curbs and use slipstream.

All in all, I had lots of fun in all events, and I feel that the further I go into the game, the better it gets
