The last NBA game I owned was NBA 07 for PSP, and NBA Shootout 2003 I think for PS2. I also bought this game but have yet to play it. I loved both of these games, and I'm sure I'll love NBA 2k11, as I've also heard only good things.
I'm not a huge fan either, but the games are usually fun in general.
