The US government has been violating US laws for decades.  It has been abusing nations around for world for just as long.  Since the US government refuses to follow US or international law and these actions are totally non-violent, maybe they will be good if they help keep the US government in check since almost nothing else seems to work.  Maybe the entire world will be better off because of this.

. Of course since we citizens have basically zero power to control government anymore, the UN can.

Are you serious?

What can the UN do to the united states, if it can't even do anything to... anyone?

UN = USA best friend

Well, the UN was created by the US and it's allies at the time to help increase their power in the world and that has continued to work out well.  It isn't the most effective or efficient organization, that's for sure, but it can do some things.  But yes, they often tend to favor the nations that created it and still have lots of power in it.

Nevertheless, the US government is out of control and these releases may help with that a little.

what makes you say that?

The US is by far the most powerful nation on earth.  It has a Constitution which includes a Bill of Rights which is designed to limit federal power but the federal government often ignores the Constitution and violates rights inside the US.  The US federal government tends to treat people outside the US even worse, killing them at will for any reason, known and unknown.  The US has military bases in what, 150 nations around the world or something and does whatever it wants and no one tries to stop it.  A little push back against the US isn't a bad thing.
