Strange. Microsoft said it eclipsed 2 million copies in its opening weekend. Not including Japan. VGC undertracking again?
Wow. 3000 per week as in every week? That'd take a year just to catch up to the launch deficit.
Ridiculous levels? It's not really rediculous to expect at least the same level of sales of a 2nd tier franchise to 25 million users vs. honestly, the biggest exclusive the PS3 has got to 42 million users. I don't see how everyone else wasn't being silly when 40% of VGC users polled believed GT5 would sell over 14 million. |
VGChartz probably under tracked it, you used this site as a source, so I thought I probably should as well.
3000 a week is still a pretty decent amount. It shows that when it comes to legs, the GT series will usually be the winner. It's also an overpriced glorified demo outselling a full critically acclaimed game, which to me is disturbing, mainly because I think that people are stupid for paying $20 to $40 (Gamestop) for 70 cars and 6 tracks.
GT4 opened to worldwide sales of 2.5 million on a much larger userbase and went to double the sales of Gears of War 2. GT5's opening looks like it's going to improve over it's predecessor.
CGI-Quality already explained what's wrong with the thread you posted.
Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
