1) The table tennis game from rare cannot be done on the eyetoy. It tracks your entire body going around the table. It does not just track your paddle. Now I know there are some issues with split screen mode, but if you play it online or single player you can move around the entire table and you can put a spin on the ball you can hit the ball at different angles and you can hit it very close to like real life. Now there is going to be some assists to help you since the game is not in true 3D and your body is in real 3D and it is true that table tennis on sports champion is a very different game as far as being more true to real life. However, it is meant to be that way as well.
2) Just because you don't see a title at launch using something does not mean it cannot be done. The launch titles are all focused on casual people who don't play games and it's meant to be a fun easy to get into game. They have not been using the kinect hardware until just recently and this is all new and of course the launch titles will be more interesting by Christmas 2011 and Christmas 2012. I don't think mom and dad are going to be impressed by useless demos. The only people who cared about the move demos are the geeks that already owned a PS3 and as the USA NPD numbers showed only those who owned a PS3 already bought a move and only a small sample of them at that.
Did the playstation 3 produce graphics like uncharted at launch? No, it took time for developers to use the technology, the same applies with Kinect. It is a new platform that has never been done and eyetoy is just an overhyped low resolution web camera that we have had since the mid 1990's with motion detection software. Not a big deal at all and that has been already explored to the max and everyone with any knowledge about motion control knows that there are too many issues with using only a web camera with a mic.
3) As I said above that the Eyetoy is nothing more than a web camera. That camera is built in to almost every laptop in the past 10 years. Motion detection software is available free to anyone who wants to download it and yet nobody has bothered much with eyetoy on the PC, why do you think that is?
It is because the technology is useless, the web camera needs light to do anything and kinect does not need light to do motion because it is a depth sensor and can see your body in 3D. Because it can see your fingers (when you are closer to the sensor and because it can see your arms and body in 3D it can do things that the eyetoy cannot do.
For example, I can have my dog walk into the view of the eyetoy and throw my entire game off, Kinect is more intelligent than that. It knows what my body is and what is not my body. It can measure my arms it can see me as a real person in 3D and in full detail. I can basically scan my body into a game as a 3D model.
Nobody uses the eyetoy camera because it won't work, it is broken. This is why nobody uses it on a PC web camera either, because there isn't enough information to know what is what in the view.
You should really google eyetoy and then google Kinect and see the technology differences. Kinect is the more advanced technology, it is using computer vision that is state-of-the-art.
