Because the gaming media said so. In reality, the PS2 took that crown which comes as no surprise considering the sheer amount of software that was released on it.

I always tough that thanks to software like Signstar and other games ,the PS2 image was more friendly than the bored GCN.

GCN was seen as the most "kiddy" think you have the two confused.
