It does seem a bit like he's trying too hard to find something to complain about, and again spends most of the time complaining about his pet peevees with how Nintendo's franchises work. Lots of funny bits, but the scent of "not getting it" is thick on him like the stench of cheeseburger from his visit to the States. I'm probably treating it too seriously, but that's the image his accent is giving off. =P
Jumping on the "using gimmick as a generic negative word that doesn't mean anything" bandwagon was unexpectedly lame from Yahtzee. The thing that makes him funny isn't how he hates everything, but rather his striking combination of insight and bluntness. He's only really using half of his winning combination this week.
