I think it sounds much too nice.

Even though they likely hate their government, i imagine the people see the south Koreans still as nothing more then brainwashed by the west.

As for the major problems being economic... I don't know how you see that as a lesser problem.

Economics trumps Religion everytime.

Both countries talk about reunification, they just both want to be the ones who're in government.  The Koreans on both sides see the peninsula as a whole as one country.

Not every countries economics are such a major issue though. Afghanistan for example had a rubbish economy both before and after the fall of the Taliban, it's not the fuel for a conflict or the major issue for the NATO forces. It's secondary to the religious and political issues.

Exactly.  North Korea citizens, even if they want to replace their leaders, want to save south korean citizens from the west's brainwashing.

Not be brainwashed themselves.

All an invasion would do would be prove everything their leaders were saying was true, and push the citizens towards them instead of away.

By countries I meant governments, which in the South represents the people (as it's a democracy) but in the North only represents the governing elite. So whether the ordinary people want communism and the current regime is hard to tell, we only have the word of defectors and they clearly weren't fans of the regime (as they did their best to get away from it).

I'm not making an assumption either way as to whether the people of N.Korea have been brainwashed. In the end I don't think it will matter as the what they have been brainwashed to believe would only really work as long as they never see the truth wouldn't it?
