I think we have already highlighted that the Japanese are no more constrained on space than the a person living in the UK. What you do have is circumstances in which Japanese live in very little space but then you also have a lot of Japanese living in large homes it rather depends on where you live.

Also it is worth noting that the traditional Japanese homes really only have 1 room which is transformed into whatever it needs to be at the time. Most items are stored. I doubt this practice continues today but it does mean the Japanese are less likely to throw a wobbly because they had to rearrange the living room.

It continues to this day, only even worse for the average people who live around the cities (which is the majority,) unless you live in the country side which well, I'd rather be outside than gaming if I was to live in those areas. I'm not saying Kinect as a product will fail, I'm saying that it's not designed with global penetration in mind to start with as there is a pretty wide cultural gap when they designed that thing. Small, slick, cute and reasonably priced gadgets that doesn't require a lot of space to work with will always sell well everywhere, Wii is a living example of such pych in mind, same with iDevices and the rise in tablets and netbooks. Such a device, Kinect is not.
