Definitely going to cut in on 3DS sales for the 2nd month. People may say "they do different things for different markets!" Thinking narrowly will lead one to the conclusion of 3DS = games; iPad 2 = apps. You have to think about it more interconnectedly. The iPad may not be a game first platform, but as has already been shown with Street Fighter 4, the potential for higher quality gaming on a bigger screen is there. Coupled with all the workplace apps and the same quality Internet as on a laptop or desktop, then it is really easy to see how much of a threat these devices are to Nintendo's hand-held dominance.
If the option is between a $400 tablet computer and a $250 3DS, then I would take the tablet computer because of multi-functionality, quality Internet surfing with less eye strain, and the future potential of the tablet computer. If you have the money for the 3DS, you have the money for the iPad 2.
