Hrm... one look at my games collection makes it easy to discern my favorite platform- the Wii. But weaknesses... oh, does it have weaknesses...
-Ratio of good games to 'crap'. I have a different definition of crap than many here, but I think almost all of us agree that the Imagine series is junk. And there's just so many other games that I can't call quality, meeting my genre or not.
-Lack of online retail extras. I really wish Nintendo would take a cue from MS, and make demos for EVERYTHING availiable. But those demos would take up space, something else that the Wii is sorely lacking. So, no demos... what about the occasional sale to make someone bite at something as a spur of the moment? Nope, and every other online game platform does that to some degree.
-Motion as a 'gimmick', or just a button. I like it when things are done right- it's a great way to become immersed into the game. But when a shake is just another button, it gets annoying. NSMBWii was very noticable for me in this- I reach for a cup of water, the Wiimote thinks I shake, and buttpounds into the pit below me. So I have to keep a lockgrip on the controller to play, and well... that's not fun. Nor is shaking a controller for what really is not needed. Hence where the 'waggle' comes from- a fair number of games do this.
I'm not really bothered by the poor online gaming mechanism (I'm a local gamer) or the SD aspect of it, despite having an HDTV. I can't deny them both as flaws for today's market, but I'm more interested in fun, and those don't detract from my enjoyment of a game.
