Its an good video:
Alot of people want to be an game designer or an person in the games production area just so they can:
1. Play games all day and it sounds easy and they love games
2. They have millions of ideas for games
And thats bad because there is no place for an person who plays games all da well there is QA but its not the same. Sure you playing an game but after you play it for the 10,000th time its no game no more. And everyone in the games industry has ideas and there is no room for an ideas man as mentioned in the video.
the reason i want to get into the industry and i am already trying to over the next few years is because i like to bring an concept to life. i love lego and building stuff. And so i am learning the art of programing so i can be the middle man between an designer and the finish product building his master piece.
And also i have the 2 points above.
I say from reading an tonne of stuff in the games industry and you want to be an designer is to learn the other trades (programming, art, sound etc) and get into the industry there, gain valuable experience and once you become an lead and finish an product then have an crack at designing. Or learn an basic knowledge of all 3 and bring one or many of your ideas to life then pursue an job off your creations
Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
