well what i gathered from the beginning of the trailer is that he was abducted or something and had this thing on his arm when he wakes up.
or he seas an alien ship fall so he goes and checks it out. he finds an alien with this thing on his arm and the dude speaks English and tells him that you have been chosen and gives him the weapon :P
