Why do some people want to use motion controls for core games?

Motion controls are fun untilmit comes to shooting than I say hell no.  Since 70% or so of the games I play involve shooting I am not very interested in kinect or move and I sold my Wii. So I think motion controls are only fun for a short time and than they become rather unnessasary.
