I disagree with this notion. And I disagree with the idea that Japan's laws are any less draconian than those within the US. Remember, all pornography in Japan is censored. All of it. There's not a single item you can buy in the country that doesn't have images of genitalia intentionally blurred. Granted, people aren't jailed for possessing such things (at least as far as I know), but such laws are far more restrictive than our own.
