umm SONY patents EVERYTHING they can get there hands on, they have MILLIONS of patents, they wont make the product but they will patent it. There R&D department patents every new thing they make.
But SONY already has released an Kinect type device 7 years ago with the Eyetoy
MS is a bit late to the party
