UK prices are great, but there is at least one reason to buy from US: Different release dates. Take Kirby's Epic Yarn for example, in the US it was released already a month ago, the European/UK release date however is still months away. Since Europe release dates are often weeks, months or even years after the other regions, many people don't want to wait and simply get the already released US version. They can't understand the japanese version and they would probably prefer the multilingual european version, but playing the game in english is okay for them.
