I think all motion games have been underrated. Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus are some of my favorite games of the generation. The gaming press doesn't seem to think the same as I do.

In terms of depth, I felt the swordplay showdown of WSR could have been it's own game entirely. It had 20 levels, and the last 10 were incredibly challenging. Most of the other sports have different levels and difficulty modes that you can unlock. Attaining every "stamp" in WSR is a very difficult endeavor, and likewise for getting pro status in every sport (or even the mythical "superstar" status).

You could spend hundreds of hours trying to master everything in Wii Sports Resort, so when it comes to depth, I really think it's remarkably underrated. This is probably the same deal for Sports Champions.

My theory is that game reviewers, coming from a journalistic background, are more interested in a constant stream of content rather than mastering a game. For instance, they always overrate the "story" games that they can "read" through. When it comes to games that have no story and instead need to be mastered, these journalists get confused and claim the game as "shallow". They are not interested in mastering gameplay elements.

This is why I've stopped listening to game journalists to determine the quality of a game.
