SNES, definitely. I just remember going to a rental store and seeing 300 games that I would love to own. Every kind of game you would want to play was available.

I am a little suprised by all the N64 mentions here. When I got my N64, I was extremely optimistic about the system. As time wore on, though, there was nowhere near the diversity of games that existed on the SNES. PS1 stole a whole lot of the thunder of the N64 for me. Even though OoT and Goldeneye are probably my 1st and 3rd favorite console games of all time, the SNES had so many great or really good games that it was no competition for me. Then again, I like the types of games that do not really seem to be as popular anymore (PTO, RoTK, SimCity, etc.).

Also, this is my first post. Long time (6 months) reader of the site; I was forced to join for this thread. :)

Going in the opposite direction: least favorite console. I suppose it does not qualify as a console, but do you guys recall early DOS gaming? Anyone remember mucking with the batch files, launching applications into HIMEM, editing your config.sys, etc.? Wow. I almost cannot believe I put up with all of that.
